I've always had a lust for discovering new delights and experiencing new adventures, and my thirst for the novel and the fascinating has served me well throughout my life. When I was a little girl, my favorite movie was The Little Mermaid, because Ariel gets to be the hero of the story. She's the one who saves the prince at the end, and she's the one who gets to pursue a boy to his strange kingdom from her magical one. She's not the damsel in distress, she's the knight in shining armor. So many fairy tales focus on girls who have to wait in a high tower for their hero, and I realized early on that I wanted to be less Aphrodite and more Artemis, the goddess of the hunt. Interpret my mythology as you will.

On the more concrete side, I was born on the west coast but spent a lot of my childhood/education in Asia and Europe. As a result, my accent can be a bit all over the place, as well as my tastes in food, wine, and art. I am just as comfortable talking about the Han Dynasty as I am about Mexican architecture or Italian religious practices and I speak three languages. I continued my education at a well-known east coast university and completed graduate school(s) in Europe. New knowledge is a source of utmost delight to me. Currently, my interests and academic specialties are literature, art, and film and I also completed my PhD this past year (finally). My hunger to learn and experience the new is the energy source of my life.

I can be sweet and caring; many people have often said I have the special ability to make strangers feel like they belong, . But I can also be challenging, I don't like feeling like people who try to coast when they are with me. I want everyone I meet to bring their best to the table and I always return the favor. As Anais Nin once said, "I must be a mermaid, I have no fear of depths, and a great fear of shallow living." I lust for the bold, the new, the exciting, and the passionate. Care to join my hunt?

It's a jungle
out there.
